Middletown, OH, September 7, 2021 — Middletown Economic Development announced Phoenix Metals will relocate and expand their operations in the City of Middletown. Phoenix will construct a 156,000-square-foot facility in Midddletown’s MADE Industrial Park. This expansion will allow them to retain 59 employment positions and hire an additional 20.

Phoenix Metals first came to Middletown at its current location, 1211 Hook Drive, in September 2019. They were unable to expand on that site and were considering locations both in and outside of Middletown and Ohio.

“Middletown has a long heritage in steelmaking and steel processing, and the decision by Phoenix to invest more than $15 million represents another important development in the history of the Middletown steel industry,” Economic Development Director Chris Xeil Lyons said. “The project will help the company remain one of the leading metal service centers in North America.”

Phoenix Metals plans to invest a total of $15 million in the expansion project: $12 million for new construction and $3 million for equipment and soft costs. Once construction of their new facility is complete, they will add 20 employment positions over the course of three years. For the 20 new positions, payroll will increase by $600,000 from $3.9 million to $4.5 million.

The City will provide a 75 percent, 10-year tax incentive to help offset construction costs for the company. REDI Cincinnati/JobsOhio will also provide an economic development grant to assist with the expansion.
